The Acudetox treatment involves the gentle placement of small acupuncture
needles into 5 specific sites on each ear of a patient undergoing treatment.
The NADA treatment helps participants become relaxed and more comfortable
with his or her own thoughts, enabling the recovering person to experience a
sense of “letting go” of tensions and apprehensions, and supporting quiet
participation in a group setting with others who are involved in the process
of recovery.
The National Institutes of Health concluded that acupuncture for addictions,
“may be useful as an adjunct treatment or an acceptable alternative or be
included in a comprehensive management program." The Acudetox treatment
allows each person to attain the stillness and internal quiet necessary to
explore how the behaviors of addiction affect him or her. This acupuncture
treatment also assists individuals during the acute detox phase, the 2–7 day
period in which withdrawal symptoms are present. The Acudetox treatment is
not a replacement for conventional treatment and support meetings. Rather,
it opens the doors to addictions treatment by making all the components more
effective.
This course covers not only the actual acupuncture techniques and points,
but also Chinese Medical and Western Addictions Treatment concepts as well
as NADA’s program philosophies. Participants will also complete a
pre-training reading assignment and several post training homework
assignments.
Completion of the full 70 hours of training (30 didactic/40 clinical) will
permit L.Acs working in the addictions and/or trauma fields to treat their
clients with this technique with the unique framework of NADA. After this
two-day seminar, trainees will be able to begin the clinical component. Upon
completion of all course requirements, L.Acs and MDs can apply to NADA for a
certificate as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist.
The fee for this course is $335 (includes NADA’s $35 training fee) for IL
L.Acs/MDs. It is $235 for students of an accredited Acupuncture program.
Important note for students: you wil qualify for certification after you
have received your IL acupuncture license.
All course materials are provided. Meals are on your own.
NADA requires trainees pay the $65 first year membership and Certificate fee
the first day of class. Refunds are generally not offered. Registration fees
will be credited to a future training.
The course instructor, Tanuja Jagernauth, L.Ac, MSTOM, is a NADA Registered
Trainer, 2007 Albert Schweitzer Fellow, Faculty Member/Supervisor at Pacific
College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago, and co-founder of Sage Community
Health Collective.
To contact Tanuja with questions or an application for this training, please
email her at tjagernauth@gmail.com
