After an injury, ice or heat??
OK, here is the trick : The ice pack stays in the fridge. NOT IN THE FREEZER. The fridge cold ice pack will be easy to put directly on the skin without risk of cold injury to the tissues (just take a deep breath and breathe out as you apply the pack against the bare skin) keep it there for about 15 minutes, flipping it over once, half way through. The tissue will refrigerate at the rate of 2mm per minute and a person your size will have refrigerated the injured tissue (muscle, tendon, ligament, articulation) adequately after that short amount of time. 48 to 72 hrs following the injury, you can follow the cold pack with a 5 minute warm pack (a wet washcloth in the microwave for 30 - 40 seconds will do) to rewarm the muscle tissue but not the joint. Repeat as necessary for comfort. This trick works better than NSAIDS, better for you, without risk of negative side effect and free.
