Did you know there is a great way to get naturally grown, fresh produce here in Battle Creek? Check out the CSA program from Green Gardens Community Farm:
In 2014, they are offering two CSA share types:
TRADITIONAL BOXES. For Battle Creek and Marshall members. Boxes of 8-12 seasonal crops (vegetables and sometimes herbs) each week that will run for three, 8-week seasons: Spring, Summer, and Fall. Each season can be purchased individually ($200/season) or the full 24-week season can be purchased at a savings ($550). Choose from 5 locations across Battle Creek plus the farm on H Drive N. Pick-up is on WED afternoons.
FARM CREDIT.
For Battle Creek, Marshall, and Kalamazoo members. Purchase credit before the season starts and enjoy the freedom to choose what you'd like (vegetables, herbs, and flowers) as well as the flexibility to not have to come every week. In addition, you receive a 10% discount on all purchases over the 33-week season (May through mid-December), so small ($400=$440), medium ($500=$550), or large ($600=$660). Battle Creek and Marshall members use credit for purchases by pre-ordering on the Online Farmacy for pick-up at the farm on H Drive N in Battle Creek on SUN and WED afternoons, as well as the Real Food Barn (stop on down and see what we have in stock those two days). Kalamazoo members come to the farm's stand at the Bank Street Market and Bank Street Winter Market.
For both share types, recipes, cooking and storage tips, and photos of meals we've prepared are included via email every week.
