 Weber Christian Disease or otherwise known as the idiopathic lobular panniculitis is a disorder affecting the skin whereby there is a recurring inflammation of the fat layer of the skin.

 Diagnosis are through physical examination where the symptom are manifest and laboratory studies including chest radiograph (Abuzahra F, Kovacs S, Beermann T, et al.Treatment of relapsing idiopathic nodular panniculitis with clofazimine. Br J Dermatol. Mar 2005;152(3):582-3).

Weber-Christian Disease Treatment

 Treatments for the disease varies though therapeutic response with the use of fibrinolytic,tetracycline, azathioprine, hydroxychloroquine, thalidomide, cyclophosphamide, mycophenolate, and clofazimine may be effective. Systemic steroids like prednisone are also said to be effective.

Weber-Christian Disease Symptoms and Signs

 Symptoms include the inflammation of the skin, recurrent crops of erythematous, and edematous subcutaneous nodules. The person with the disease may also show malaise, fever, nausea arthralgias, abdominal pain and hepatomegaly as sign of the disease.

 The cause of the Weber-Christian disease is unknown.
