Purpura Simplex Definition

 Purpura simplex is a disorder characterized by the increased bruising from vascular fragility. This disorder affects mostly women, and is very common. This condition, in itself, is not considered serious. This disorder may characterize a heterogeneous group of disorders.

Purpura Simplex Diagnosis

 A medical history will be asked of the patient to determine if any other member of the patient's family has this disorder. The doctor may then require some blood tests, especially the platelets. Tests may include to determine how the platelet is functioning, including a platelet count. Blood coagulation and fibrinolysis are also tested.

Purpura Simplex Treatment

 There are no known treatments for purpura simplex or bruising. Patients are advised to avoid blood thinning medication such as aspirins. It must be kept in mind that there is no evidence that these types of medications causes or worsens this disorder. Patients are also advised to be careful and avoid bruising.

Purpura Simplex Symptoms and Signs

 Bruising may be found in different areas of the body without any know trauma. The bruising may occur in the thighs, buttocks and upper arm areas.
Purpura Simplex Causes
 The cause and means for this disorder remains to be unknown. Some studies show that this disorder may run in the family. Serious bleeding, however, does not seem to happen.
