 Pulmonary Heart Disease is a disorder that is sometimes called Cor Pulmonale. It is a modification, or an alteration, of the function and the tructure of the right ventricle of the heart. This rare disease is sometimes called Primary Pulmonary Hypertension.

Pulmonary Heart Disease Diagnosis

 Examinations used to check this disorder are chest X-rays, ECG or echocardiography. These tests may be used to check the right ventricular hypertrophy or artial dilation.

Pulmonary Heart Disease Treatment

 Treatment for this disease depends on its underlying cause and supportive measure. Medication can also be used to treat pulmonary heart disease with the use of Diltiazem hydrochloride, Felodipine, Glyceryl trinitrate, Isosorbide mononitrate, Nifedipine, or Amlodipine besylate. Oxyen therapy may also be needed to slow the progression of the disorder. This disease can also be treated like congestive heart failure with the use of calcium channel blockers (vasodilators) to reduce the pressure of the pulmonary circulation.

Pulmonary Heart Disease Symptoms and Signs

 This disorder does not show any symptoms, or is asymptomatic, in its early stages. Symptoms, however, experienced in its later stages.
Pulmonary Heart Disease Causes
 There is no known cause for this disease, however, this disease appears to be secondary to a disorder of the respiratory system or chronic lung disease like acute pulmonary embolism and chronic COPD (such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis).
