Post-Nasal Drip Definition
Post-nasal Drip or PND (although this tern is deemed obsolete) happens when excessive mucus is produced by the sinus. This excessive mucus can accumulate in the throat or the back of the nose. It is now referred to as Chronic Upper Airway Cough Syndrome.

Post-Nasal Drip Treatment
For minor relief, fluids, particularly hot water, can help. Other treatments may include antibiotic, nasal irrigation or minor surgery. Other treatments for the disorder caused by allergies may also be used like antihistamines and decongestants for common effects. Steroids may also be prescribed for short-term use.
Post-Nasal Drip Symptoms and Signs
Several symptoms that include: swallowing constantly, spitting mucus constantly, tickling in the throat, mucus feeling in the back of the throat, constant clearing of throat, difficulty breathing, congestion in the nasal and sinus passages, chronic sore throat, crystals found in the tonsils (called tonsil stones or tonsilloliths), bad breath, coughing, nausea and vomiting due to excess mucus in the stomach, cobblestone appearance of oropharyngeal mucosa.
Post-Nasal Drip Causes
Can be caused by other disporders such as rhinitis, sinusitis or laryngopharyngeal acid reflex. It can also be caused by allergies, particularly during spring, summer and fall.
