Neurodermatitis Definition

 Neurodermatitis, otherwise known as the lichen simplex chronicus or the scratch dermatitis, is a the condition of the skin where the skin becomes thick and leathery due to the cycle of itching and scratching.

Neurodermatitis Diagnosis

 Diagnosis includes the observation and examination of the appearance and observation of the area that is itchy and scratchy. It may also include the use of patch testing and punch biopsy to confirm the presence of the medical condition.

Neurodermatitis Treatment

 Treatment includes administration of prescription medications such as oral corticosteroid, antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications and application of antibiotic lotions.

Neurodermatitis Symptoms and Signs

 Its symptoms includes the cycle of itching and scratching of a person of a portion of his or her skin. The itchiness though may be present only in the limited area of the skin. Its symptoms may also include roughness and occurrence of dark patches in the skin including its the thickening or the leathering of the skin.
Neurodermatitis Causes
 The cause of Neurodermatitis is not yet known though it is linked to the rubbing the skin or irritating it through the use of tight clothes or even because of a bug bite where the affected area is itchy and continue to itch as the person scratch it.
