Hyper IgE Syndrome Definition

 Hyper IgE syndrome (HIES) is a heterogeneous kind of disorders presented by recurring staphylococcal infections, eczema-like rashes, lung infections and high levels of the IgE antibody in the blood serum. It is sometimes known as Job-Buckley syndrome.

 HIES is diagnosed by genetic testing.

 The disorder is treated with chronic antibiotics to prevent recurrence of staphylococcal infections. High-dose intravenous gamma-globulin is also a suggested treatment for eczema caused by the disease.

Hyper IgE Syndrome Symptoms and Signs

 The signs of that the disease has taken place include scoliosis, recurrent fractures and sometimes, scoliosis. Some patients do not lose their baby teeth and bear two sets of teeth as they grow up. Facial, dental bone deformities also develop.

 HIES is an autosomal dominant disorder.
